Presenting the new words and teaching the reading of lesson four.

General goals 

The students should be acquainted with:

1. Meaning & pronunciation of the new and the most important words throughout the reading.

2. Using the words in the sentences.

3. Answering the questions related each paragraph.

Partial objectives

Learners should learn :

1. To repeat the sentences correctly either chorally or individually (repeating the new words aloud after the teacher).

2. To find out the meaning/s of the most important words.

3. To use the new words in proper or suitable situation.

4. To use synonyms & antonyms of the new words.

5. T o understand the whole meaning of the lesson.

6. To translate the sentences in Farsi by a group.

7. To summarize the lesson in 3-4 lines.

Behavioral objectives

Book, chalk, black board, cards, pictures, tapes, C.D by Net Support System.

                        Teaching tools 

The learners should be familiar with simple words related to the new & important words as synonyms & anonyms.

Back ground knowledge 

1. Asking the students simple words for learning the new words.

2. Asking the previous lesson.

3. Preparing them for new lesson by asking the meaning & synonyms or antonyms of the previous vocabularies that we have in this lesson.

4. Presenting the Reading; the teacher starts talking about the title of the reading passage "The Olympic Games" by explaining the pictures or giving them a short and easy summary of the whole passage.

- Preparing the students to learn the passage.

- Using the known knowledge of the students for learning unknown or new materials.

- Using synonyms & antonyms, translation in a group and summarizing the passage. 

- Preparing the questions for motivating the students to be ready to concentrate on the reading passage : What sports do you like? Do you know Takhti?

5.Final evaluation(asking the questions by filling gaps ,multiple choices ,Yes or No and True-False questions)

Do you know about Olympic games?

Are the games held every year? Have the games held in Iran? Where?

6. Complimentary activities (asking the questions such as part C : comprehension as homework)

 

Teacher's activities

All the students should be divided into groups of four or five students either the same or different duties;

1. Individual activities; listening, repeating, answering the questions.

2. Group activities; activities in a group, helping her classmates in a group, giving a fine correction to their mistakes, answering the questions.

Asking the questions about different paragraphs to be answered orally (T. F) (yes or no) or some in written forms .These questions make them able to answer all the comprehension drills of the lesson at home as their individual tasks.

 

                  Final evaluation

Determining homework & exercises for the next session such as             part C .comprehensions as homework.
